Katy is a UK based oil painter from Yorkshire. Growing up she focused her skill toward ethereal portraits and detailed sketches, pursuing this throughout her educated life to the University of Lincoln. Katy began painting in a number of mediums including acrylic, watercolours and mixed media, often attending art events and fairs with her work. The positive reaction to Katy’s wildlife work led to a large shift towards oil paints, discovering the rich tones and infinite textural possibilities oils soon became her medium of choice and a huge part of Katy’s development as an artist. Moving to portraiture, Katy worked on a series of iconic women, all eclectic in their abstract colour qualities, heavily embellished and adorned with tactile brush strokes. Katy’s admiration for elegance and richness of pallet moves her to create original oil paintings with a plethora of colour, and a blend of drama, harmony, presence and dissolve.
We are proudly donating a percentage of proceeds to the Marine Conservation Society, a UK charity dedicated to the protection of our seas, shores and wildlife, campaigns for clean seas and beaches, sustainable fisheries and protection of marine life.
Deriving from the Latin word meaning ‘Big Cat’. The colours and style of both works are a great testament to Katy’s abilities and signature style. Both pieces are fully endorsed by the Born Free Foundation, which we will be donating a percentage of the proceeds of every single sale to Born Free.
